Welcome

Algoma Deanery is one of 5 deaneries that make up the Diocese of Algoma. It is an area of breathtaking scenery that follows the eastern shore of Lake Superior from White River to Sault Ste Marie where you will find the highlands of Algoma a haven for outdoor pursuits, and then east along the northern shore of Lake Huron to Blind River with farmland and the sugar maple trees of St Joseph’s Island. The ‘Soo’ as the locals call it  is the commercial and industrial centre for the region with a short drive across the international bridge to our twin Soo in the USA.  In the ‘Soo’ Ontario is the diocesan Cathedral of St Luke.  We are a hardworking  people of faith with a strong connection to the land and to one another. With our sisters and brothers across this Diocese, our mission is…

‘To share in the gathering work of Christ so that His newness of life overflows into our hearts, homes, churches, and community.’

Whatever has brought you to the highways and byways of Algoma we hope that you will find in the people you meet in the parishes of the Deanery of Algoma the love of God and a peace which the world can’t give.
