Members of congregations within the Deanery of Algoma have been invited to share in the designing, building and use of a parade float to be entered in Algoma and district 2014 Christmas parades.
An ad hoc committee hasbeen meeting throughout the summer securing funds from the Diocesan Champion Project of the Anglican Church of Canada, sourcing a trailer to use as our float platform and developing a float design, and now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and begin creating!
Here are a few of the ways you can get involved!
Wrapping Boxes: October 15th, 20th, 30th 10:30-11:30am @ St. Luke’s Catherdral in the hall. Come help create the large gifts that will be used to decorate the float.
Participation in the Parade: We need people to dress as ‘walking toys’ (think Toy Story), angels and shepherds to walk either at the front or behind the float, wave to those watching and hand out candy.
Costume Making: We are looking for people who would be willing to make costumes to resemble ‘toys’ (jack in the box, etc). We are also sourcing angel and shepherd costumes in various sizes (Likely older youth and adult)
Float construction Date and location to be announced.
Please email Rev. Pamela Rayment know how you’d like to get involved or with any questions you may have!
