Travelling Nativity

What is it?
The tradition of having figures of Mary, Joseph and a donkey travelling from home to home during Advent originated in Mexico where it is known as posada.  This practice helps us to reflect on the journey that Mary and Joseph made to Bethlehem while Mary was pregnant with the baby Jesus and consider the importance of the birth we celebrate at Christmas.

This Advent,
Mary and Joseph will travel throughout the Algoma Deanery, being received by a new host each day until Christmas.
Should you receive this Travelling Nativity into your midst, please be gracious hosts.  Included is a travel log to track Mary and Joseph’s Algoma journey, along with suggested prayers for your use.

You’re also invited to post pictures of Mary and Joseph’s journey on the
Algoma Deanery Facebook page .

Who know’s where Mary and Joseph may visit?
