Junior, Girls’ and Boys’ Auxiliaries are Planning a Fun Year 2018 St. Luke’s Cathedral Fall Newsletter
Our group meets on Saturdays, from October to April and welcomes children 5 – 17 years. Our activities include games, prayers, snacks, crafts, drama, music, and of course giggling.
We first meet this Fall, on Saturday, October 13, 2018 12 noon – 1:30 pm. Please note that we welcome new members throughout our year.
This October, we have planned a visit to Farmer Bob’s and some very special activities at our regular meetings.
Most members start around the age of thirteen taking on leadership roles, and often earn their entire high school volunteer hours amidst a lot of fun and learning.
We welcome members from the Cathedral family, other Anglican churches and denominations, and the community at large. Many of our new folks are invited by the children already in our group.
When we perform dramas or concerts the proceeds are donated to charities often chosen by the children. Our plays are written specifically for the members. This allows shy young children to ‘step up’ in spite of their shyness. We have been to Narnia, to Neverland, to Green Gables and visited Scrooge and Tiny Tim and a dog named Mutt. Through it all we have had the privilege of seeing tentative five year olds mature in to confident and talented actors by the age of twelve or thirteen.
The current group, in the past five years, with their efforts have helped many, many children in need – locally, nationally and internationally.
We have a core of ten leaders who share their considerable talents throughout our year. Please contact the office at 705 254 7144 or the office at stlukescathedral@bellnet.ca if you are interested in your child joining or simply require more information.
