This Week in Algoma Deanery

Good day!
There is only one event on the deanery event calendar:
The Church Closet: Saturday, June 2nd, 10am – 1pm; St. George’s, Echo Bay (159 Church Street)
If you know of anything else that’s going on, please let me know…
For your devotions:
Wednesday, May 30th is the commemoration of Roberta Elizabeth Tilton, the founder of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Canadian Church. She was a champion not only for women but also worked endlessly against all ills in society…
Thursday, May 31st is the Holy Day of The Visit of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Elizabeth. Here you will find several reasons why Mary’s faith is important to our own faith…
Friday, June 1st is the memorial of Justin, Martyr at Rome in about 167 A.D. This is one of my favourite Church Fathers. Justin was born a pagan and become the first (arguably the greatest) Christian apologist. His plea for Christianity didn’t save him from being murdered…After defeating the Cynic philosopher, Crescens, in a public debate, the angry and humiliated Crescens brought Justin to the attention of the Roman Prefect, Rusticus. When Justin refused to sacrifice to the Roman gods, he was condemned, scourged, and beheaded along with six of his students.
Have a joyous week full of blessings!
